We have already spoken about certain items that may be included in our existing diet that can cause easy bruising, but we also need to examine what items we may be leaving out of our diet that can also contribute to our easy bruising.  While we are investigating why our body now seems to bruise so easily, it is time to look at what vitamin, nutrients, and mineral deficiencies we might be dealing with.  Diet deficiencies (I can’t think of my diet being deficient in anything) can have a great deal to do with how our body deals with injuries, and easy bruising could be one result of a lack of essential nutrients in the food we eat.

When we are trying to bring our diet into better balance and how we can overcome some of the basic deficiencies, we will find that bioflavonoids are a great place to start our analysis.  Bioflavonoids are essentially plant pigments that are water soluble.  With more than 4000 varieties identified, they are in a lot of the foods that we already eat, and it is important we understand how they are necessary and beneficial.

Vitamin K is another vitamin that we are going to want be certain is available in proper amounts in our diet, and we will discover that it is essential for keeping our circulatory system completely healthy.  It helps heal existing bruises much more quickly, and by adding an adequate amount of vitamin K to our diet, we can help keep bruises from occurring at all.

Another important dietary component in our fight against bruising easily is sulfur.  Sulfur helps our body process and metabolize carbohydrates, and additionally it also helps our body to be able to repair itself.  Given that a bruise is caused by a blood vessel breaking under the skin, we’ll find that quick repair is sometimes essential.  Sulfur is best obtained from a group of plants called bromelains (pineapple is a bromelain) and a compound called MSM.
