Natural Cures for Earwax

If you think that all of your ears are full of earwax, you probably are not. In fact, some people are lucky enough to have very little earwax! Earwax is often referred to as the "carpet"bark" of your ear. Earwax, in the medical sense, is simply a yellow, brown, red, orange or even gray waxy substance secreted by the cochlea (inner ear) of most animals and humans. It helps in lubrication and cleaning, provides protection from bacteria, fungus, and water, and keeps the delicate skin of the inner ear clean.

While some earwax is necessary for the body to function, excessive earwax production can be a problem for the ears. Earwax buildup can result in hearing loss, reduced hearing acuity, temporary hearing loss, ear infection, or ringing in the ears. Some of these problems can be treated naturally, while others require the assistance of a doctor. For most people, however, there are several natural remedies that can be used to get rid of earwax build-up. Many of these treatments are common to many other parts of your body.

One of the best ways to get rid of earwax buildup is to wash your ears daily with regular soap and water. Earwax is washed off with soap, which looses plaque so it is easier to rinse off. You should try to take at least five baths a day, but if that is not possible, you can wash your ears with an otoscope or ear drops that you buy from the pharmacy, which may also work.

You can also try putting cotton swabs in your ears before bed. This way, when you are trying to sleep, the cotton swabs will prevent earwax from building up. This method should be used regularly, but is especially useful for hearing aid wearers.

Garlic is another effective treatment for an ear infection. This herb has been used for centuries to treat ear infections, but there is little scientific evidence to support the idea that it helps with earwax buildup. You can put a few drops of garlic in a glass of warm water and drink this mixture before bed.

Another alternative to soaking your ears in hot water or ear drops is to apply a cold compress from a towel or clean cloth

Hot water looses any dirt stuck in your ears, and a cold compress can help reduce the accumulation of earwax that needs to be removed.

It has long been known that apple cider vinegar has soothing properties in a variety of conditions. You can apply apple cider vinegar to your ears twice a day or once a day to reduce inflammation you may experience. The vinegar will also help remove excess earwax that has accumulated in your ears.

There are many other different natural cures that can be used to get rid of earwax build-up. You just need to know what works for you! If you are unsure of what method to use, you can always talk to a professional about getting a prescription for something that works.

Ear drops are one of the best ways to treat the condition. These ear drops are very similar to the over the counter pain medications that you see in drug stores, but they are less harsh than most of the over the counter medications.

Ear drops can be very effective, but do you really want to have to take an ear drop before bed? The answer is no. If you are having trouble falling asleep, try drinking some apple cider vinegar before bedtime, or even taking a warm bath to relax your body and mind.

If you find that none of the above techniques work, it may be a sign that your problem is much more severe. There are times that surgery is needed. If you choose to get rid of the wax build-up in your ears, it is best to consult with your doctor first to ensure that it will be safe for you to do so.
